A Tottenham Hotspur fan who was handled to match tickets for his seventieth birthday was overwhelmed up by Sheffield United supporters.
Roy Pankhurst travelled to Sheffield, in South Yorkshire, for the FA cup match on Wednesday together with his son Craig Pankhurst.
However as they left the Sheffield United Bramall Lane floor they had been attacked by ‘street rats’.
The pensioner was left with a bloody nostril and a nasty reduce to the face – and spent six hours being handled at hospital.
Craig, 44, mentioned: ‘What a horrible finish to his seventieth birthday shock. We thought the Spurs end result was the worst factor this night. Clearly not.
‘Thank you for such a lovely welcome Sheffield United.’
He posted the images on Twitter, the place he detailed what occurred through the assault.
He wrote: ‘That is me and my dad on the way in which out of the match.
‘Now in an ambulance on the way to hospital. He’s a 70-year-old man.
‘This is what some of your “fans” thought was appropriate.’
Roy wanted scans as his face was swelling up so badly.
The pair even had to make use of their soccer scarfs to mop up blood as they waited for an ambulance.
Craig continued: ‘Again to our room within the Premier Inn after six hours in hospital.
‘What a very terrible evening. I’m wondering if we’ll hear something from Sheffield United.
‘I’m positive they’d be ashamed of their “fans” who did this.’
Officers from South Yorkshire Police are actually investigating the assault.
Police mentioned: ‘Police had been referred to as by the ambulance service at round 10.17pm on March 1 following stories of an assault on Eyre Road, Sheffield.
‘It’s reported the sufferer, a person in his 70s, and his son had been assaulted by a gaggle of males.
‘The man suffered facial injuries and received treatment at hospital. Enquiries are ongoing.’
The match resulted in a 1-0 win to Sheffield United.
Craig took his dad out for a meal to toast his seventieth birthday earlier than the sport, which is in a few weeks.
He wrote: ‘Celebrating Dad’s seventieth (in a few weeks) Birthday. Dinner in Browns, earlier than the soccer. Cheers.’
